Lathe War


Participants are required to perform set of operations on the job using lathe machine problem statement for which will be declared on the spot.

There will be total two rounds.

·         Round 1 will be of profile cutting, which is to be completed in 40-45mins.

·         Round 2 will also be of profile cutting, which is to be completed in 50-55mins. Participants will be shortlisted after Round 1 for round 2. 

Rules and Regulations:
1. All the participant should carry workshop aprons and wear leather shoes.

2. Participant should carry Onyx’12 receipt & their college ID-card.

3. Experience of working with a Lathe machine.

4. Only one Member in a team (Open for all branch students).

5. Accuracy of up to is 5% expected.

6. Not more than 2 tools would be provided. Fine will be levied if any damages to Tool, Lathe Machine or Surroundings occur during Operation.

7. Any kind of malpractices like use of cell phone during the competition is completely banned. Anyone found so will be disqualified.

8. Judges Decision will be final.

9. No extra work piece will be provided and carrying of any extra material is banned.

10. After the completion of the task all the accessories must be returned.

Fastest Finger First



Procedure:

·         Four participants will play at a time

·         A short message will be given to all the participants to type on cell phone.

·         The one who types the message fastest with accuracy will be the winner.


Rules:

·         Participants should carry their own cell phones.

·         Event will be held separated for TACTILE (normal) & QWERTY keypad phone users.

·         Use of T9 Dictionary is prohibited.

·         Any additional rules or modification which exists will be communicated on the spot.

Design It


CATIA [V5R20]

Two different questions will have to be solved.

Ø  Step 1:
Convert 2D Views in 3D model which will be based on part design.

Ø  Step 2:
Solve a simple problem based on either surfacing or modeling, question for which will be given on the spot.

AUTO-CAD
Only one question to be solved.

Ø  Convert 2D Views into 3D model.

Rules:

Ø  Contestant has the option to choose either AutoCAD or CATIA.

Ø  There is time limit of one hour for every step.

Ø  The participants have to come at least 15 minutes before the allotted time for competition.

Ø  The decision taken by judges is final.

Problem Statement: To make a catapult launcher using materials provided.

Materials:

Soft wood, Popsicle sticks, adhesive, rubber bands, Bolt, spoon, utility knife.

Team Specifications:

1.     The team shall consist of maximum 3 nos. of participants.

2.     One team can make only one model for proposed competition.

3.     Students must bring their valid identity cards.

Rules:

1.     Only the materials and tools provided at the time of the competition have to be used.

2.     The materials shall be provided only once. Participants are responsible for the damage of the materials provided to them. While collecting the materials make sure that you get it inspected by respective coordinators.

3.     Time allotted: - 3 hrs.

Judgment Criteria:
1.     The competition round theme will be decided on the event spot.

2.     Three tries will be given to each team for launching of catapult.

3.     The decision of the judges will be final.

Technical Paper Presentation



Rules:-
1.      Maximum number of participants in a Team is 2.

2.      The topics that the papers need to be based on are suggestive. It is advisable that the presentation focuses on one particular topic. The participants who are desirous of choosing a different theme than those mentioned above are welcome, provided, it falls under the ambit of the domain. Report should be well comprehended, albeit advanced which could appeal to an undergraduate. Kindly contact the coordinator for clarifications.

3.      Abstract should not exceed 1 page and Paper should not exceed 15 pages.

4.      The subject of the mail with the attached abstract and later, the final paper should be the domain and sub-category under which the paper is categorized.

5.      Bring your college I-Card & receipt on event day.

6.      Please bring your PowerPoint presentation on a CD and on a pen-drive.

7.      Soft-copies of the submitted paper and PowerPoint presentations must be in the .docx format.

8.      Please Mail your abstract, paper and ppt to tpp.onyx2012@gmail.com .

Difficulties will be addressed through the same email-id.

9.      Please bring 2 hardcopies of the submitted paper on the day of the event.

10.  The teams will get 10 minutes for presentation followed by question and answer session.

11.  Persons from different institutions can be a part of the same team. However, one person may not be a part of multiple teams for the same event.

12.  The mail with submissions should contain:
Title- theme of the paper.
Name of both the authors .
Phone no of both the authors.
E- mail ID .

13.  Paper should be in a one column format & should not exceed 15 pages.

14.  Paper should be in Times New Roman font of size 12.

15.  For headings use bold and a font of size 16.

16.  Paper must contain index, list of figures, list of tables, abstract, introduction, point wise description of subject and conclusion and references.

17.  Paper must be preceded by a cover page specifying the title of the paper, names of authors and their college names as also their contact numbers and email ids.

18.  Last day to submit soft copy of your report (via e-mail) will be two days prior to the day of presentation.

19.  After you have submitted the soft copy, a panel of judges will go through your material and if you are shortlisted to give the presentation, you will be notified.

20.  The abstract mail should contain abstract, references, your e-mail id and mobile number.

21.   The decision of judges will be final and no arguments or appeal will be entertained.

General Quiz


Rules:

·         Team consists of 2 participants.

·         The quiz master has the ultimate say over scoring. He may assign full points, half points or no points using his discretion. The decision of the quiz master and event head is final and binding.

·         The event Co-ordinator reserves the right to make changes in the rules.

Elimination Round:

·         Will consist of 25 questions including 5 starred questions.

·         Answers to be written on a sheet of paper. Sheets will be provided by us. Participants must bring their own pens, pencils, etc.

·         After all answer sheets have been submitted, answers will be revealed and marking will begin. Marking will take approx 30-45 mins depending on no. of received sheets.

·         Top 5 scorers will move onto the final round.

·         In case of a tie, the team which has answered a higher no. of starred questions correctly will be given preference.


Final Round:
·         The teams will be designated: A, B, C, D, and E.

·         The final round will consist of 4 sub rounds.

·         At the end of the final round, the team with the highest score wins. In case of a tie, a set of 5 tie breaker questions will be asked. The tie breaker questions will have negative marking for incorrect answers.
